Health News (Week 19 – 2014)
By Robert Redfern

New readers may first want to read my original magnesium oil* article below.

For my readers who have already read about Ancient Minerals Magnesium OIL, I want to report on the new formulations combining Magnesium Oil and OptiMSM, which have been introduced over the past year.

The Ancient Minerals range is now complete with ULTRA versions of Oil, Lotion and Bath Flakes. The OIL ULTRA also has a travel size (125ml), which is very useful. I have previously written how I, (like most people), was naturally deficient in the critical mineral magnesium. My problems included cramps, athlete’s foot, a rash around my ankles in the winter and aching tensed muscles (especially the neck), all symptoms of a magnesium deficiency.

As a recap, Magnesium has many health benefits including: supporting heart conditions (AFIB), reducing tiredness & fatigue, normal muscle function, more energy, normal functioning of your nervous system, helps to maintain normal bones & teeth, helping the problems I had and many MANY more….I could go on forever!

I raved over the ORIGINAL Oil (as you can read below) but it was so powerful it did have a little sting and some had to wash it off after 30 minutes or dilute it (some complained!). Do not be put off….all is solved with OIL ULTRA.

The ‘ULTRA’ range contains a patented form of MSM (OptiMSM) that has been shown in published studies to dramatically improve the absorption of anything it is mixed with. It also substantially improves the absorption of Magnesium Oil. OptiMSM already has a large range of studies in its own right including: joints, liver, healthy skin and immune health. I believe it improves the usefulness of Magnesium OIL by up-to 400% and it does not sting!

I can state that the winter just gone, for me, is the first for having neither an outbreak of athlete’s foot nor the rash around my ankles. I still use the OIL ULTRA daily on my legs, neck and chest muscles (chest muscles for my heart valve recovery plan, for which magnesium is essential).

I have also started to use the Ancient Minerals Magnesium LOTION ULTRA on my face as part of my recent plan to keep and improve my skin’s youthfulness. It is looking good and I will report in 3-6 months on this. It’s fair to say I am a big magnesium fan!

Bath Flakes ULTRA are good for your personal spa time, especially for bathing children with emotional problems and elderly people with lower leg/feet problems. Using this in one of the foot-bath spas is a perfect and easy way to get magnesium and MSM into the lower limbs. Poor circulation and lack of magnesium is the cause of many foot and lower limb problems.

Last time I said “I often get asked which is best!” Now I can say I believe any from the ‘ULTRA range’. They are all great and all have specific benefits.

*My previous story about Magnesium Oil:

Magnesium is of great interest to me personally because for many years I’d read that magnesium deficiency was implicated in many of my problems.I took supplements including the magnesium citrates (claimed to be the best) and changed over to the highest magnesium rich diet that I could. This included 2 avocadoes some days and many greens, but my problems did not improve.

My two main problems which I will share were athlete’s foot and cramp in my calves. So imagine my amazement when I applied Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil spray (a new product at the time) to both of these and they cleared within 24 hours.

I can still identify the connection because if I go more than a week without magnesium oil they will come back. Once or twice per week keeps them clear.

I restarted weight lifting a while back (after many years out) and was warned by the coach that my muscles would ache the next day. Guess what? No aching whatsoever. I applied the oil to the muscles I worked and took my regular supplements.

This time it was lots of gain and no pain!

Feedback from practitioners at the show included case studies that they had successfully used magnesium for. These were all far more serious than my cramp and athlete’s foot and included one on atrial fibrillation and general irregular heartbeat.

I’ve also had feedback from Debbie Harrison at Good Health Naturally who has managed to stop her similar health problems with the Magnesium Oil. It was good to hear practitioners getting excited over a product so simple yet so powerful.

To apply, you just massage it into the heart, stomach area and major muscles every day. Then reduce to a few times per week to test how little you need.

Back to the show: Other feedback we received on successful magnesium uses included: general pain and spasms, joints, energy levels, muscle function, stress, sleep, detoxification, psoriasis, eczema, other skin conditions and especially menstrual cramps.

If you too have a story, please send it to us. It helps to get as wide a picture as possible on just what can be helped when the problem has been caused by a magnesium deficiency.

So what is Magnesium?

Often revered as the ‘Beautiful Mineral’ in Chinese medicine, magnesium is thought to be as important to the body as water and air!

Although there are only several ounces of magnesium in your body it is implicated in hundreds of biochemical reactions, scores of which contribute to the manufacture of energy and cardiovascular function.

What is ‘Ancient Minerals’ magnesium?

Many people take magnesium tablets. Many people have a magnesium deficiency.

If you fall into either of those categories or just want to ‘top up’ your magnesium levels then this range is going to be of interest to you.

Firstly, what it is – this magnesium is drawn from the Ancient Zechstein seabed, 2 kilometers beneath the earth’s crust. It is ultra pure and highly concentrated.

Secondly, how it can be of benefit – it is available as an oil, gel, bath flakes and lotion. All of these are applied to the skin where they absorb and the magnesium is then carried by the circulatory system around the body.

This is important because it’s rapidly absorbed better than tablets which have to pass through the gastro-intestinal tract.

Ancient Minerals is one of the widest and most effective range of ‘sub-dermal’ supplements.

I often get asked which is best! This I can’t answer!

Magnesium is truly one of those supplements that I believe should be an essential part of everyone’s supplement cupboard.

Whether using it for a serious health condition, something as simple as athlete’s foot or just for general health maintenance, magnesium is something that you should consider.
