Curcumin can reduce inflammation and possibly fight against pain according to new research. This is because the Curcuminoids play a therapeutic factor in relieving pain and promoting quality of life.

Researchers analysed a cohort of 820 people who had osteoarthritis and who were given a curcumin extract. Within six weeks, many of the patients reported experiencing an improvement in pain control, articular mobility and overall quality of life. While it was well tolerated, the researchers found that more half the patients also stopped taking other medications including analgesic, anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective drugs.

In a placebo controlled double-blind study, the curcumin extract was given to 50 post-surgical patients and the findings revealed that all patients who received the curcumin extract were pain free after three weeks. Additionally, the patients also used significantly less analgesic agents as compared with the placebo.

A third study consisting of 46 men with inguinal hernia repair who were randomly assigned 400mg of Curcumin, 100mg of Phenylbutazone or 250mg lactose (placebo), three times a day for five days. Those who received the Curcumin or Phenylbutazone reported experiencing similar outcomes on the pain and tenderness scale from 0 to 12. Curcumin was found to be safer and actually reduced more inflammation.

Curcumin, derived from the Ancient Indian spice turmeric has many unique and anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce pain with relatively few side effects. Thousands of people have been using this spice to find relief for their pain, inflammation and the various health conditions that can result from this.

Researchers acknowledge that Turmeric’s curcuminoids have long been associated with home remedies and new studies reveal, “It’s curcumin may have unique anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce pain with few side effects.”

Taking Curcumin daily is highly recommended for best results as it has many health benefits, but the problem is ensuring that it can be taken for maximum absorption.

When Curcumin is taken on a daily basis, it produces consistent results. For this reason it’s highly recommended to take a Curcumin supplement to ensure you get enough! Curcumin is best absorbed when taken as a Curcumin Phytosome which a recent study has shown to increase in utilization up to 20-45X compared to ordinary Curcumin 95%.
