A Strong Immune System

Daily Immune Protection’s™ New Improved Formula is imperative to ensure optimum health and a strong immune system. Without a strong immune system and its corresponding strong immune system response, our bodies are incapable of fighting off even the smallest and seemingly harmless of foreign invaders.

What are just a few of the consequences of exposure to these foreign invaders, especially when immune system function is compromised?

  • Allergies
  • Out of control stress
  • Inflammation
  • Weight struggles
  • Digestive concerns
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Aging too quickly

How Does The Immune System Protect Us?

The immune system protects us by activating an immune system response, either through the innate or adaptive immune system. The responses of these immune systems are characterized by first, the body’s recognition of foreign invaders and their antigens (proteins located on the invader’s cell surface), and secondly, its response (attack) against them.

Where does Daily Immune Protection’s™ New Improved Formula come in and more importantly how is it different from other immune system response products?

D.I.P. balances and stabilizes both the innate and adaptive immune system responses in the body. This is because D.I.P. is an immune system “balancer” as opposed to other products which try to artificially bolster the immune system.

This is due to D.I.P.’s one of a kind formula, developed with several ingredients which have been proven through research to enhance and “balance” immunity in the body.

The combined nutrients in 3 capsules every day which work together to provide this optimum balance are:

Taking a Look at EpiCor®

EpiCor® among its many other benefits, is a powerful and potent anti-oxidant.

How powerful?

So powerful that EpiCor® has an Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity (ORAC) score of 52,500 per 100 grams. The ORAC score measures the antioxidant capacity of foods and supplements and was developed by scientists at the National Institutes of Health.  Foods and supplements ranking higher on the ORAC scale are believed to neutralize free radicals more effectively. Free radicals are an atom or group of atoms that have at least one unpaired electron and are therefore unstable and highly reactive.

Free radicals stem from a multitude of sources, including the very same things that impact the immune system negatively. These exposures create free radicals, as does exercise and the process of eating and digestion. We do require some level of free radicals to function; however, due to our excessive lifestyles of drinking, smoking, and eating toxic foods, our bodies are in overload. Antioxidants and therefore EpiCor® can slow down and inhibit this free radical overload and the damage it creates that contributes significantly to aging and disease. [1]

Studies also show EpiCor® is full of anti-inflammatory properties [2]. This is good news as inflammation and the overabundance of free radicals in the body are a lethal combination!

These are the two main culprits behind the vast majority of sickness that ails us today. They create what we know as disease or dis-ease, meaning quite simply, the body is not at ease!

The consequences of free radical damage and inflammation?

  • Un-natural cell growth
  • Skin cell growth and conditions of the skin: acne and psoriasis
  • Arthritis
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Digestive system disorders
  • Heart disease
  • Lung disease
  • Liver damage
  • Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites

Selenium and eXselen

A quick primer on selenium tells us the following.

Selenium:

  • Is an essential trace mineral (we need it, but can’t make it without help)
  • Must be supplied via food or supplements
  • Is an antioxidant
  • Assists with immune function
  • Supports healthy inflammation
  • Is possibly protective against breast, thyroid, and prostate concerns

What about eXselen™? How is it related to selenium?

eXselen™:

  • Is organic selenium
  • Has a high bioavailability rate
  • Is a superior quality, raw material
  • Is supported by 15 years of research.
  • Is a result of six decades of proprietary technology focused on fermentation
  • Is a reliable source of high levels of selenomethionine – a selenium containing, naturally occurring amino acid which is efficiently absorbed within the body

What about Vitamin D?

When we think of vitamin D we usually think of its role in calcium absorption; however, research on vitamin D and its role in the immune system, particularly its role in protecting against bacterial infections, found vitamin D is a critical component in the facilitation of a strong immune system. This is due to the fact that vitamin D receptors are found on the cells that make up the immune system. When there is a vitamin D deficiency these cells weaken and lose their ability to provide protection against foreign invaders.

Vitamin D is influential in both the innate and adaptive immune system responses. While both of these immune system responses are necessary for a healthy immune system they can also be detrimental depending upon the disease and infection the body is trying to deal with. [3] The right amounts of vitamin D handles this dilemma by providing the balance needed.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Vitamin C in the form of ascorbic acid has been examined for its role in both preventing and treating cancer. In terms of cancer prevention vitamin C has a strong part to play in enhancing the immune system; therefore, the risk of cancer is minimized. Once cancer presents itself, vitamin C can help the body resist further spread of the disease.  [4]

Vitamin C has exhibited other immune system benefits through numerous research studies. A lack of the proper amount of vitamin C has been shown to decrease the effectiveness of the immune system response. This research shows immune function returned when Vitamin C intake was restored in amounts high enough to avoid a deficiency. [5]

Those who experience good health may also benefit from taking higher doses of vitamin C for the purpose of preventative care.

Zinc Glycinate Chelate

Chelated minerals provide optimum results and benefits as they are absorbed and assimilated into the body more efficiently than non-chelated minerals! They accomplish this by the ease at which they move through the wall of the small intestine and cross the cell membranes.

Zinc Glycinate Chelate’s absorption is facilitated even further with the help of:

  • Dimethylglycine HCL
  • Vitamin C

And even though zinc is a trace mineral and is only needed in minute amounts, its intake is critical. Zinc makes up the largest component of trace elements in the cells and is involved in a myriad of cell functions. Zinc is necessary for the proper functioning of the immune system with the potential to decrease the incidence of contracting the dreaded “common cold,” and may actually decrease the longevity of this virus when taken soon after symptoms appear. [6]

A zinc deficiency can result in lower numbers of the body’s T-cells, resulting in debilitated immune function. T- cells are lymphocytes, a specific type of white blood cell found in the blood and other tissues and are primary components of the immune system.

Over a third of the daily requirement for zinc can be found in Daily Immune Protection™.

Dimethylglycine HCL

Dimethylglycine HCL also known as plain ole’ Dimethylglycine, is a component of every cell in the body and is derived from glycine, an amino acid, which is a building block of protein and plays a role in metabolism. Dimethylglycine enhances the immune system response and fights infection. One example of Dimethylglycine’s impact on this response are findings from a research study conducted on animals.  Animals involved in the study were either given Dimethylglycine or given none (control group). All animals were then observed for their immune system response. Those administered Dimethylglycine HCL exhibited extremely significant improvement (up to 1,000%), in regards to fighting off infections, compared to those animals who were given no Dimethylglycine. [7]

Elderberry Fruit Extract 4:1

The elderberry fruit is not a household name when it comes to fruit; however, maybe it should be. Elderberries are abundant in antioxidants and have been utilized for medicinal purposes for hundreds and hundreds of years. Research is abundant and studies on elderberry extracts show it can:

  • Hinder the duplication of certain strains of the influenza virus.
  • Decrease symptoms of influenza.
  • Shorten and decrease symptoms associated with the “common cold.” [8]

Larch Arabinogalactan Powder

Larch Arabinogalactan Powder is a polysaccharide (long chain sugar), which is extracted from the larch tree’s wood. The U.S.D.A. classifies Larch Arabinogalactan Powder as a reliable source of dietary fiber. This fiber acts as a natural probiotic and is responsible for higher levels of the “friendly” bacteria which reside primarily in the large intestine, especially the bifidobacteria Bifidobacterium longum, and Lactobacillus. [9]

More “friendly” bacteria equate to a healthier colon.  A healthier colon equates to a stronger immune system response. Why? Seventy percent of the immune system lies within the gastrointestinal tract!

Immune Assist – Micron Powder

Immune Assist – Micron Powder is a potent immune modulator. The power of Immune Assist lies in its composition. With over 200 immune fighting long chain sugars assisted by beta glucans and sourced from six species of medicinal mushrooms ( grown with the help of biotechnology), Immune Assist – Micron Powder  is a crucial component of D.I.P.

Mushrooms contain specific sugar binding proteins that have the ability to identify cancerous cells and inhibit these cells from proliferating. The plant chemicals present in mushrooms also stimulate natural killer cells (primary components of the immune system), to act, enhancing the immune system response. [10]

Beta Glucan 1, 3 1.6

Beta Glucan 1, 3 is a long chain sugar containing beta 1, 3-d-glucans and is extracted from the cell wall of the saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. Beta Glucan has been scrutinized and studied with positive results in relation to immune system function. This yeast derivative has anti-tumor properties and prompts natural killer cells to take action. [11]

Supporting Good Health

Keep this in mind: the vast majority of the immune system is present in the GI tract and inflammation and free radicals are the culprits behind most disease. Daily Immune Protection’s™ New Improved Formula has you covered with ingredients that support good health (including the health of the digestive tract), fight inflammation, and neutralize free radicals.

What do doctors and nurses think about taking dietary supplements to support good health? The findings from a survey published in the Nutrition Journal are enlightening. Doctors and nurses commented on their own personal use of dietary supplements in addition to their professional recommendations to patients.  The study found 72% of doctors and almost 90% of nurses take these supplements, at least on occasion. More than half of both of these groups use them on a regular basis, primarily for supporting good health.  Even more interesting is the fact that over two-thirds of this population recommend dietary supplements to the people they treat. http://www.nutritionj.com/content/8/1/29
