WEEK 42 (2022) – Keeping Your Bones Strong and Healthy At Any Age

Today is World Osteoporosis Day (20th October), so this newsletter is about raising awareness of how to care for our bone health.

As a condition that causes bones to become weak and brittle, Osteoporosis can cause stress on the body, eventually leading to a fracture. For example, osteoporosis-related fractures most commonly occur in the hip, wrist, and spine.

It is estimated that more than 200 million people worldwide suffer from the condition. While osteoporosis can affect people of all ages, post-menopausal older women are at the highest risk.

The condition can be debilitating and profoundly impact your ability to do everyday tasks and activities.

Symptoms of Osteoporosis may include back pain caused by a fractured or collapsed vertebra, loss of height over time, a stooped posture or a bone that breaks much more quickly than expected.

The Importance of Calcium
