WEEK 25 (2025) – How I Stay Healthy and Protected When Travelling

After focusing on natural sun protection last week, it got me thinking about the little routines that keep me feeling my best while travelling. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer trip, having a few trusted health essentials in my bag makes all the difference in helping me to stay comfortable, energised, and protected on the go. And, of course, by the time I travel, if I’m heading to a sunnier climate, I will have taken my Astaxanthin supplement for a few weeks to help protect my skin.

This week, therefore, I thought I’d share a few of my favourite travel essentials to give you some inspiration. I generally decant a few of each product into a little travel-sized container, so they easily fit into my suitcase or travel bag.

First of all, if I’m going somewhere hot, I never travel without my favourite natural sunscreen because I want effective protection without harsh chemicals, which I explored in last week’s newsletter. Alongside that, I always bring a moisturising and protective lip balm with zinc oxide. Our lips are often overlooked but can burn easily, especially when out exploring on day trips or relaxing near water. Having these basics means I can soak up the sunshine safely and enjoy every moment without worry.

Supporting Circulation, Immunity and Digestion

Long flights and hours sitting can take a toll, so nattokinase is a must-have for me. This natural enzyme helps support healthy blood flow and reduces the risk of clotting, which gives me extra peace of mind on flights.

I also carry silver spray for its antimicrobial benefits. This is perfect for freshening up surfaces like tray tables on planes and trains, as well as helping my immunity after a busy day’s travelling.

To keep my digestion on track, I always pack my soil-based probiotics, as they don’t need refrigeration, along with my digestive enzymes. These help me when I’m trying new foods and adjusting to time zones, keeping my digestion working well and reducing the risk of bloating and stomach upset.

Rest, Hydration, and Recovery

Travelling can be exhausting, so I take magnesium glycinate at bedtime to help me relax and get a restful sleep, regardless of the time zone. Staying hydrated is also essential, as dry aeroplane cabins and unfamiliar climates can easily dehydrate you. I always bring electrolyte powder to maintain my fluid balance and antioxidant-rich supplements, such as vitamin C, to protect against additional oxidative stress from travel.

My Travel First-Aid Kit

As a final layer of protection, I keep a small first-aid kit with me, which includes silver gel for bites and bumps, as well as charcoal tablets for gentle detox support, just in case I indulge a little more than planned. Having these basics at hand means I’m ready for little mishaps or challenges without scrambling to find what I need far from home.

Final Thoughts

Travel can be such a joy, and a little preparation goes a long way in helping me feel my best every step of the way. Whether I’m exploring new places or simply relaxing under the sun, these simple travel health essentials have become my trusted companions. I hope they inspire you to pack your own wellness toolkit for your next trip.
