Today’s Newsletter
Is the first in a series dedicated to why I follow one of the world’s top scientists, who famously said: “You can trace every sickness, every disease and every ailment to a mineral deficiency”.
He is Linus Pauling, two times Nobel Prize winner.
Critical Nutrients Part 1:
Even the phrase ‘balanced diet’ is meaningless as it does not specify the nutritional content of that diet. Food is only as nutrient-rich as the soil it grew in.
Claims that organically-grown food contains more nutrients are exaggerated, and while the organic growing system is healthier for food and the environment, it cannot magically make critical nutrients appear when they are not in the soil.
After writing about the Population Crash (Week 20) being partly caused by severe malnutrition, I decided it needed a better explanation.
Especially since things are getting worse.
For New Readers
Thirty-five years ago, my mother died of lung disease at age 62 and my 64-year-old father died a short while later of cancer.
These deaths drove me to research the causes of their deaths in-depth. I soon found evidence that the majority of diseases that people suffer and prematurely die from are completely preventable.
I discovered evidence that these diseases are mainly caused by an unhealthy diet, lack of critical nutrients, and lifestyle factors – all of which create unhealthy bodies.
I celebrated my 75th birthday in January feeling truly fit and healthy, and I want all my readers to achieve the same opportunity, at any age.
Nutrient Crash
Many scientists have predicted the majority of farm soils are so deficient in the critical nutrients that they will become unusable within the next 50 years. Iodine and selenium, for all intents and purposes, are at zero levels. These minerals are critical for healthy babies and protecting everyone from cancer, in addition to many other diseases.
To be healthy we need 75-80 minerals/elements. They can only be obtained from a varied diet of plants, fruits, nuts, seeds, and animal products etc. that are raised on high-quality soil containing these 75-80 minerals/elements. There are virtually no soils in the world where these minerals are sufficient to provide healthy nutritious food.
Wild fish and other seafood are the one food group that (mostly) contain all of the minerals we need, as the seas are still mineral-rich. Unfortunately, we have a problem with overfishing and pollution but that is another challenge altogether.
There are some essential nutrients such as carbon, hydrogen and oxygen which come from the air and pure drinking water.
So, how are farmers able to carry on farming and producing crops on these mineral-deficient soils? The answer is that they are using artificial fertilizers; nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, commonly referred to as NPK. They also add a few others when possible, but these cannot provide the bulk of the missing 75-80 minerals/elements.
There is no other solution in the foreseeable future but to personally supplement both the minerals/elements, as well as various vitamins, which become deficient in the foods as a result of the soil depletion.

Critical Nutrients: Part 1 Magnesium
In the past 60 years, magnesium levels in food have reduced between 19% and 50% in many areas.
Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include:
As magnesium deficiency gets worse, other symptoms may occur, including:
- Abnormal heart rhythms
- Coronary spasms
- Numbness
- Osteoporosis
- Personality changes
- Seizures
- Tingling
- Insomnia
And of course, stress.
What Can Magnesium Do For You?
When it comes to magnesium, the name says it all. Magnesium is called the “Beautiful Mineral” in Chinese Medicine. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, magnesium is considered vital – as important as water and air to the health of the body.
Magnesium is important – it is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. Your body contains just a small amount of magnesium, but it facilitates hundreds of biochemical and enzymatic reactions, so it has to be replenished daily.
Some of these reactions help your body with the most essential processes to manufacture energy and maintain cardiovascular health.
In fact, the cells of a healthy heart contain 10 times
the magnesium found in the bloodstream.
Also, 50 to 60%of magnesium in the body can be found in the hard structures of the bones and teeth.
Here are some important ways that this Beautiful Mineral can benefit your health:
- Relieve headaches
- Ease muscle spasms/cramps
- Relieve painful symptoms of fibromyalgia
- Alleviate anxiety and depression
- Help with autism and ADD, in some cases
- Soothe psoriasis, acne, and eczema
- Help regulate blood pressure
- Offer relief for seizures and spasms caused by a deficiency
- Support more restful sleep
- Maintain a healthy heart
- Regulate glucose levels
- Promote bone growth
- Supports DNA and Gene Maintenance
- Supports Immune system
Do You Need More Magnesium?
If you are deficient in magnesium, you are going to know it. Most people brush off typical signs of magnesium deficiency as run-of-the-mill aches and pains. You may experience tense muscles, insomnia, athlete’s foot, cramps, anxiety, and more.
A magnesium deficiency should not be taken lightly. Magnesium deficiency disrupts the balance of magnesium and other minerals in the body. A seemingly straightforward problem like magnesium deficiency can cause a “domino effect” to trigger a cascade of health issues throughout the body.
Low magnesium levels have been linked to a higher risk of heart problems, diabetes, asthma, osteoporosis, and high blood pressure. It can be made much worse by:
- Excess consumption of sugary, starchy foods – refined sugar causes the body to excrete magnesium through the kidneys
- Regularly drinking caffeinated beverages, like coffee or tea – another factor that can cause the kidneys to release magnesium
- Drinking more than seven alcoholic beverages a week – research confirmed magnesium deficiency in 30% of alcoholics
- Excess stress – known to trigger magnesium deficiency
It’s important to point out that adults aged 55 and older are prone to low magnesium levels. The combination of stress, ageing, and disease can create the perfect storm and cause a magnesium deficit.
Even worse, older adults are less likely to intake magnesium from whole fresh food sources, compared to younger age groups. Our metabolism may also become less efficient with age – making it difficult for the body to absorb and retain ample magnesium.
Adults over 55 should take magnesium as a lifelong supplement. Daily magnesium supplementation can prevent the body’s storage from running low and reduce the risk of a number of chronic conditions associated with ageing.
How To Get The Most Out Of Your Magnesium
Many magnesium supplements are badly absorbed, so even those taking them can still suffer from magnesium deficiency. The type and form of magnesium that you take matters.
The top supplement source of magnesium comes from:
The Ancient Seabed. This includes oil, gel, bath flakes, and lotion formulations – more efficiently absorbed transdermally as they are applied directly to the skin and carried immediately through the circulatory system.
The very best magnesium meets both requirements listed above; source and application. To further enhance absorption use magnesium formulated with a combination of magnesium oil and OptiMSM, available in oil, lotion, and bath flakes.
According to research, magnesium products that contain a patented form of MSM (OptiMSM) are known to dramatically improve absorption. Within this new formulation, magnesium is rapidly absorbed with clinical benefits for the liver, joints, skin, and immune system. Newly formulated magnesium oil and OptiMSM improves efficacy by up to 400% and does not sting when applied to the skin.
For health problems ranging from mild to severe, magnesium may hold the key to optimal health. Magnesium oil can be applied to the body (best absorbed through the muscles) and face daily. Magnesium lotion can refresh and rejuvenate ageing skin on the face while easing muscle pain or cramps on the body. Likewise, magnesium bath flakes can be used for aches and pains in children and the elderly alike. Don’t underestimate the power of magnesium to transform your health – it’s a common mineral deficiency with a very simple remedy.
