Some of it is less backed up by the science.

Cold plunges and cold showers are heavily marketed as an instant nervous system reset. It’s based on a formal scientific opinion from the European Food Safety Authority [5]. Trial evidence beyond the regulatory claim is genuinely encouraging too. Do vagus nerve stimulation devices actually work?

It depends on which kind.
