How To Supercharge Your Immune Health This Winter

Supercharge your immune health this winter to reduce your risks of getting ill and defend yourself against the viruses that cause colds and flu.

This year, more of us will be looking to boost our immune health to avoid the seasonal winter flu that commonly affects thousands of people.

In the UK, around 17,000 people are estimated to die of flu and 30,000 from pneumonia every year, the British Heart Foundation has found. [1] Worldwide, up to 650,000 people die of respiratory diseases linked to seasonal flu each year. [2]

As it’s National Influenza Week from the 1st – 7th December, now is a good time to look at some natural solutions to supercharge your immune system for the year ahead…

Take Zinc

An important mineral for boosting the immune system, Zinc is effective at treating cold symptoms. Zinc is known to stimulate immune cells and a review of seven studies has demonstrated that taking 80-92mg of zinc per day can reduce the length of the common cold by up to 33%. [3]

Take Olive Leaf

Olive Leaf extract has been proven to show high antimicrobial and antiviral properties, that can interfere with the ability of bacteria and viruses to replicate themselves, which is what causes infections.

The compound oleuropein has also been demonstrated to have antioxidant and immune-enhancing properties that can support your immune system. By containing cytokines, proteins secreted by cells of the immune system that act as chemical messengers, it helps to regulate the body’s immune response and inflammatory response in the long-term. [4]

Take Vitamin D3

There is considerable evidence that taking Vitamin D3 can reduce the severity of respiratory tract infections, especially those of viral origin. [5] Cytokines are small proteins that have a communication role in the body and are released to control inflammation. Vitamin D3 can inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and a study from earlier this year suggests it can also regulate CV-19, in how it supports regulatory activity within the immune system. [6]

Take Vitamin C

A powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C has various anti-inflammatory benefits that can support your immune system and protect your cells from oxidative damage. Studies show that it can reduce the severity of toxins and bacteria and help to heal your body’s natural processes. Vitamin C is also beneficial for pneumonia patients and plays an effective role in disease prevention. [7, 8]

Take Probiotics

Good health begins in the gut. By rebalancing your gut flora with probiotics, this can nourish the “good” bacteria in the digestive tract and help to control harmful microorganisms like germs. Taking high-quality probiotics has also been proven in recent studies to stimulate the immune system and improve your immune health. [9]

Apply Magnesium Oil Ultra

Magnesium is an essential mineral needed by every cell in the body and is required as a co-factor for Vitamin D3 to work effectively. One of Magnesium’s primary benefits is how it can support your immune system.

By rubbing Magnesium Oil onto your chest daily it can help to boost your immune system response, making cells more active in protecting themselves against microbial, bacterial and viral attacks. Studies show magnesium can also support lung health, helping you to breathe easier. [10]

By following these simple solutions above, alongside following a healthy lifestyle and diet plan that includes cutting out all sugar and carbs, you can naturally boost your immunity and avoid the risks of colds and flu this winter season.
