Health News (Week 17 – 2013)
By Robert Redfern

I usually leave the weekly newsletter until the last minute. Partly because that is my personality and partly because so many ideas cross my thinking each day, it is very difficult to decide which one to choose. Today is no exception but an important subject came to me in a flash.

This morning I went to a Natural Health Doctor in Palma to get a blood test. I asked for a full panel of tests to include all of the usual suspects. Yes, even I leave nothing to chance and want to know my own personal health plan is doing a good job.

I will get the results next week and share them with you to review what healthy levels should be! I asked the doctor, ‘does it include a Homocysteine test’? To my surprise he said no.

When I ask why, he said because so few people have heard about it, he did not offer it. That was my cue for a newsletter.

To be clear I was quite astounded. The levels of Homocysteine in our blood are so critical and are the main method of determining the risk factors of serious diseases including:

  • Premature Ageing
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Thyroid-related health challenges
  • Neurological Conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
  • Depression
  • Infertility
  • Chronic Pain
  • Digestive Disorders

Even this natural health doctor did not truly understand how critical this test was but I want you to truly understand that you must have a test and be assured, if the test is bad you can fix it.

It is interesting that he quickly said, “it does include both type of cholesterol though”. I did not have the heart (no pun intended) to point out that cholesterol levels are mostly irrelevant for health risks and it appears that it is really designed to sell more statin drugs. 50% of all heart attacks are suffered by those who have low cholesterol levels. There is no conclusive evidence the majority of statin users will live any longer than those who do not take it.

What is Homocysteine?

The production of homocysteine is related to the amino acid methionine. Homocysteine — another kind of amino acid — is formed as a product of this process. Normally, most of the homocysteine is recycled as with other amino acids such as Cysteine, SAM-e and best of all Glutathione (the heavyweight champion of antioxidants).

However, the body needs sufficient amounts of dietary B-Vitamins including: Vitamin B12, B2, B6, Magnesium, Selenium, TMG and Folate to do this. Without enough B12, B2, B6, Magnesium, Selenium, TMG and Folate in the diet, the recycling process becomes faulty, causing homocysteine levels in the blood to rise.

Still with me!?…

Optimal amount of these nutrients vary considerably from person to person. However, other factors, such as lack of certain enzymes or a genetic predisposition to high levels of homocysteine, also can be at fault. I’ll explain the dangers of high homocysteine in a moment.

Why doesn’t my doctor tell me about this?

Simply because there are no patented drugs to lower elevated homocysteine and doctors get all of their information for treatments from the drug companies. The huge amount of research never gets to doctors on preventing these diseases since there is no delivery system for truthful and honest information. We know the drug companies deliver untruthful information as they are continually fined for it.

What is a healthy reading for homocysteine?

Your goal is a healthy level of 6. Every point above 6 indicates an extra10% risk of disease or premature death eg. a reading of 11 indicates an extra 50% greater risk of one of the conditions listed above.

What can you do with a high reading?

A few years ago I originally formulated a product for Good Health Naturally which they called Homocysteine Spray! The results reported by users were quite astounding ,with many reports of lower homocysteine levels within a few weeks. I have recently improved the formula by merging the B4Health benefits into it (this was a multi-B Vitamin tablet). The new formulation is called B4Health Spray and I can recommend it to either lower your homocysteine levels or to help prevent some of the conditions mentioned above. I just take it for an energy boost as we oldies need it more than ever, and it saves me the need for any B12 injections.

B4Health Spray provides you with your Daily Requirements of: Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Folate, Vitamin B12, Selenium. It also has 10mg of Magnesium in it and a proprietary complex that contains Dimethylglycine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, Ribose, Taurine, Grapeseed Extract, Pine Bark Extract & Co-Enzyme Q10.

It’s a spray so each of the nutrients are absorbed much better than they would be if you took a tablet and each bottle provides about 2 months supply, depending on how many sprays you take.

It is a unique formulation of ingredients in B4Health Spray and they can’t be found elsewhere, in one product alone Shop Here for B4Health Spray.
