Too much sugar within your diet can be disastrous for your health. Statistics show that one in four children within Brighton and Hove are overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school.

The Sugar Smart Initiative has the backing of TV chef Jamie Oliver and was launched by the food campaigner to raise money for Sustain, a charity working in health and food education. The money raised from elsewhere within the city from this charge will be paid into the Children’s Health Fund.

One in four children in Brighton and Hove are already overweight or obese when they leave primary school.

Sugar has been steadily creeping into our diets over the years and much of it is added into food, sauces and sugary drinks.

The trouble with sugar is that it can cause inflammation in the body that results in heart disease, diabetes and obesity. The average American now consumes more than 123 to 160 pounds of sugar per year. This breaks down to around 20 teaspoons of added sugar per day. If you want to get healthy it therefore stands to reason that you should try and eliminate sugar as much as possible from your diet.

Reducing sugar in your diet has the benefit of keeping your blood sugar levels under control, thereby reducing any hypoglycemia or “crashes” that may be the result of anxiety, hunger or sleepiness amongst other symptoms. Reducing your sugar intake can also help you to maintain a healthy weight and lower high triglyceride levels that may boost your risk of heart disease.

One way to reduce your sugar intake is to choose a plant based diet filled with green leafy vegetables and plenty of dark skinned fruits like blackberries, blueberries, red grapes, etc.

Cinnamon can help to support blood sugar levels and help you to curb blood sugar by lowering insulin resistance. Consider adding a teaspoon or two of cinnamon onto your breakfast cereal, fruit or dessert to reduce the sugar content of the food.

Alternatively, Cinnamon27™ can provide powerful support for normal blood sugar levels along with normal utilization of insulin. Cinnamon27™ contains American Ginseng, Bitter Melon, Chromium, Fenugreek, Gymneme Sylvestre and Nopel amongst other ingredients.
