Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia are some of the biggest health risks for people in the modern world. 44 million cases are diagnosed worldwide and this is expected to triple by 2050. A billion people are also estimated to have low Vitamin D3 levels. A major study has confirmed that older individuals who have severe Vitamin D3 deficiency are more than twice as likely to suffer with these forms of debilitating conditions.

The study by Dr David Llewellyn of the University of Exeter Medical School found that those aged 65 and older who had severe Vitamin D3 deficiency were also 125 percent more likely to suffer with some form of dementia. While those who were moderately deficient with this key nutrient had a 53% increased risk, and the results for Alzheimer’s Disease were similar. The moderately deficient people had a 69% higher risk of developing Alzheimer’s and were 122% more likely if they were severely deficient.

The study participants were analysed over a six year period to see who developed Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia. Initially, the researchers expected there to be a correlation between Vitamin D3 and good brain health, but the results were more distinguished than anticipated. Various health issues were also related to the low Vitamin D3 levels and an increased risk of fatality from cancer and cardiovascular disease.

How and Why We Need Vitamin D3…

For all of the above reasons, it’s important to get enough Vitamin D3 into your diet. We receive Vitamin D3 from the sunlight so a good way to ensure you get enough is to go out in it regularly. But in colder climes where sunlight exposure is limited, this may not be possible. Therefore it’s suggested to try Vitamin D3-rich foods such as oily (wild caught) fish for example as these can greatly improve Vitamin D3 levels. A more efficient way to ensure that you get more Vitamin D3 into your diet is to take Vitamin D3/K2 Spray (available from Good Health Naturally) as directly supplementing with it can provide better absorption into the bloodstream.

When the Vitamin D3 and K2 are combined, it boosts a protein known as MGP and this provides protection for the blood vessels against calcification. They also work together to protect the heart against cardiovascular disease. Vitamin D3 and K2 can also support calcium absorption and reabsorption for effective bone mineralization. Another option is to take Serranol (also available from Good Health Naturally). This is a combination formula of Serrapeptase, Curcumin, Ecklonia Cava Extract and Vitamin D3 that’s designed to support blood flow and circulation, alleviate inflammation while improving a variety of health conditions.
